Shadab has left the game due to receiving a blow on the head that required him to undergo concussion tests.

Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen get South Africa off to an excellent start in Powerplay 1, Heinrich Klaasen soon joins their ranks; his powerful hitting has resulted in numerous boundaries being hit regularly.

Babar Azam

Babar Azam is widely considered to be one of Pakistan’s top batsmen, having amassed numerous milestones across all formats – including two ODI tons against Australia in 2022 when he captained their national side as captain. His style of batting recalls legendary batsmen such as Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli with its emphasis on placement rather than power.

At the 2021 Champions Trophy, he stood out as a star performer, receiving praise from former England captain Michael Vaughan for his powerful hitting. Vaughan has acknowledged his brilliance; yet there remains work for him to do on improving consistency and reading pitches.

Young Fawad Khan shows great promise and could become one of Pakistan cricket’s all-time greats in time. As he progresses further, he should be considered for inclusion in Pakistan’s 2022 World Cup squad in which he could lead them to win their inaugural global crown.

Babar’s recent performance will boost his confidence ahead of Pakistan’s Test series against South Africa. He scored a century for Stallions in an ongoing one-day tournament and will look to improve on his subpar performances for Pakistan. A cousin of Akmal brothers, his consistency earned him selection into national side; he led Pakistan Under-19 side as run scorer in 2010 and 2012 Under-19 World Cups.

Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock is an outstanding wicketkeeper-batsman from South Africa who holds an excellent limited overs record and is known for taking games away from opponents with his ability to change momentum quickly. Off the field, De Kock maintains a calm demeanour; on it however, his skill on the pitch truly separates him from others.

He is an extremely prolific scorer who has contributed to some of the most captivating innings in recent times. He can turn any match with just one stroke and has an aggressive approach toward bowlers that has allowed him to amass many big runs for both T20Is and ODIs for Proteas.

South African cricket team struggled to maintain momentum during the second half of their match against India despite an impressive first innings performance by Hendrick Klaasen and Ravindra Jadeja; their brilliant bowling strategy combined with strong lower order contributions by Hendrick Klaasen and Ravindra Jadeja made it difficult for South Africa to make any inroads into their total score.

Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, famous for its electrifying atmosphere and batting-friendly surface, hosted this match. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first with hopes of setting a substantial target; de Kock hit two fours while Marsh edged Rabada’s fuller delivery back into his territory off Rabada before Rabada eventually found Marsh’s edge and edged back across point to edge Rabada out for four runs at point off Rabada; eventually reaching 200 runs in 35.6 overs!

Rassie van der Dussen

Rassie van der Dussen has quickly established himself as an elegant right-handed batsman who has earned himself a regular place in South Africa’s limited-overs squad. After an extended wait, the 34-year-old finally made his international debut against Zimbabwe in 2018 and scored an unbeaten 93 on debut before staying in the side.

Experience in various conditions has enabled him to become an adaptable batsman who can adapt quickly in different circumstances. He has played in England, Ireland, the Netherlands and Canada – where his skillset makes him an asset to any squad – taking on bowlers with big sixes but generally being more cautious during ODI cricket matches.

Van der Dussen led South Africa to an easy win against Afghanistan, who were dismissed for 244 in their final World Cup group game at Pune. With this result, South Africa are on track to securing their semi-final berth and are in prime position to reach the final four of this World Cup tournament.

South Africa started their innings strongly with Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma joining forces to put on a partnership of 61 runs. When both players fell, however, reliance was put heavily on Van der Dussen and Andile Phehlukwayo who held firm and gradually reduced required runs with ease.

Temba Bavuma

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma scored a half century, and Tony de Zorzi also contributed with two fifties to keep their Proteas competitive on an extremely difficult surface. While batsmen struggled with getting away on an aggressive spinner-friendly pitch, De Kock and Bavuma formed an important partnership and South Africans still led after tea on day 4.

South African cricket had an excellent start when they resumed on 45-1. De Zorzi completed his half century off 78 balls but his attempt at pulling spinner Jomel Warrican backfired as it holed out to gully. Soon afterwards Bavuma joined them, both struggling to convert half centuries into test tons, having only achieved this feat twice out of 57 matches with Proteas.

Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai made substantial contributions with their bat, yet were unable to break through an in-form Australian bowling unit. Nabi edged Nqabayomzi Peter to extra cover while Omarzai was caught leg before wicket by Rashid Khan in Rashid Khan’s final over.

South African innings never found a foothold, compounded by poor fielding performance. They missed several run-out chances and lost wickets at key moments, while Nqabayomzi Peter, Lungi Ngidi, and Andile Phehlukwayo all bowled well for them, with Phehlukwayo taking out opener Abdul Malik early with an accurate straight delivery during power play.

Aiden Markram

Markram is an elegant batsman capable of facing both fast and slow bowlers, possessing both the poise and focus to thrive at international level. After making his first-class debut for Northerns in 2014 and winning the Africa Cup T20 that same year, Sunrisers Hyderabad recruited him into their squad in 2021 IPL season, where he demonstrated both run scoring abilities as well as wicket taking.

He is an exceptional leader, inspiring his teammates through his example and earning him recognition as South African Emerging Player of the Year 2022. He boasts an excellent balance between defensive technique and aggressive strokeplay that excels on pitches that stay low and true; in addition, he makes for an excellent fielder with clean hands and an unshakable demeanor.

Fans were delighted by a riveting encounter, thanks to Ravindra Jadeja’s crucial wickets and economical bowling, while South Africa struggled to form meaningful partnerships.

The match took place at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, an acclaimed venue known for its batting-friendly surface and exciting atmosphere. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first, hoping to set India a daunting target to chase down. Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen each scored half centuries, but their efforts weren’t enough to prevent a whitewash against India.

Heinrich Klaasen

South African batsmen did an outstanding job protecting their total after both openers were dismissed cheaply. Aiden Markram and David Miller formed a solid partnership and it seemed within reach for Proteas; however, two batsmen falling at once gave Pakistan hope of winning; Kagiso Rabada’s regular wickets put an end to this hope as Pakistan finished on 167/7.

Babar Azam was unfortunate to be dismissed early, when he got an edge off Usama Mir and was caught at deep square leg. But after this setback the batsmen recovered with Miller and Heinrich Klaasen joining their ranks as fresh batsmen to save the innings.

South Africa batsmen had been making steady runs against Mohammad Wasim’s bowlers and appeared poised for a massive total, only for Mohammad Wasim to break the partnership and send Heinrich Klaasen back for 12(10). With South Africa now at risk of qualifying for the semi-final, another loss tonight could spell doom for their hopes of qualifying – so they need an incredible performance both batting and bowling to prevent another heartbreaking loss and beat India in the final. It should be an exciting finish!
