Inter Miami Vs C.F. Monterrey Lineups is the very important term for predicting the finalist team of the football tournaments. So let’s start.

Lionel Messi will play for Inter Miami despite suffering a hamstring strain during a 1-1 draw against NYCFC over the weekend. Messi came off the bench as part of their 1-1 tie against them.

Tomas Aviles narrowly escaped a yellow card for hacking at Monterrey player, which would have been his second yellow.

Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi did not feature for Inter Miami against Monterrey during their Champions Cup quarterfinal clash, due to a hamstring injury which has limited his availability this season. He is expected to return in time for Columbus Crew’s semifinal match-up, however.

Monterrey took an early 2-0 lead in the second half thanks to goals by Jesus Gallardo and Jordi Alba’s penalty kick, creating a nightmare night for Inter Miami who were already short-handed due to injuries and suspensions.

After the match, Tata Martino avoided answering questions regarding Messi’s participation. Although he had hoped he’d be available for both legs of their quarterfinal, it appears unlikely.

The first half was quiet as both teams struggled to establish dominance of possession. The visitors managed to maintain much of the play but were unable to create clear-cut chances; Tomas Aviles scored for Inter Miami after tapping in Julian Gressel’s corner kick in the 18th minute for an early lead.

After Jordi Alba was whistled for an apparent foul outside the area and began an altercation with David Ruiz over it, both players were booked.

Monterrey failed to take advantage of their numerical edge in the second half, however. David Ruiz from Inter Miami received two unnecessary yellow cards late in the match and was ultimately ejected – his absence will be felt throughout their remaining game time as Monterrey is left without their man for much of it.

Luis Suarez

Lionel Messi will return for Inter Miami against Monterrey on Wednesday, but will likely not start. Messi missed two matches earlier in the season due to a hamstring injury and his Herons do not want him risking reinjuring it as they prepare to compete in their quarterfinal matchup with Liga MX’s most dominant club.

Instead, they will rely on Diego Gomez and Sergio Busquets as backup players. Unfortunately for Herons FC fans, Benjamin Cremaschi remains injured since early season; therefore he won’t be available for this match either.

Visitors FC Bayern will likely start with a diamond formation and have several options up front, with Maximiliano Meza likely starting as their top option, even though he has struggled with injuries this season. Head coach Fernando Ortiz won’t shy away from using Meza against Inter Miami.

4th minute: Monterrey’s Gerardo Arteaga unleashes an attacking pass which just misses Brandon Vazquez at the near post, leaving Inter Miami struggling to create chances in early stages. They are being punished for their lack of imagination.

David Ruiz made an excellent sliding tackle, but it resulted in him suffering a groin injury, leaving him limping off of the field, likely missing the rest of the match.

Inter Miami are currently having difficulty competing with Monterrey’s attacking power. To combat Monterrey’s threat in the second leg, Inter must improve their defensive work and secure their lead as soon as possible.

Jordi Alba

Monterrey isn’t as compact in their defense than they were during League Cup competition, which could give Inter Miami an opening with some quick passing and precise movement. Inter Miami must also avoid giving away possession, which has been an issue recently; but with plenty of talented players available Inter Miami may make better decisions in the final third.

Jordi Alba will play an instrumental role in this match for Inter Miami and could prove pivotal. The Colombian has shown great promise over recent matches and could prove decisive against Monterrey’s staunch defense line.

He will likely start in an attacking midfield role, where he can combine with the rest of the team and create chances for visitors. Additionally, his shot from long range is quite reliable while on Wednesday his three accurate crosses represented a season high for accurate passes.

On Wednesday night, Inter Miami will play Monterrey in one of the highest-profile quarter-final matches ever seen on CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-finals, and both broadcasters FS1 (in English) and TUDN (in Spanish) will air it live, beginning at 8pm ET.

Inter Miami will begin with Drake Callender as their goalkeeper; Marcelo Weigandt, Aviles and Nicolas Freire will form the backline; Sergio Busquets, David Ruiz and Diego Gomez will start midfield, and Robert Taylor and Luis Suarez will form an attacking unit at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Sergio Busquets

Lionel Messi will return from injury in this quarterfinal encounter, although not for its entirety. Instead, he will come off the bench in place of suspended David Ruiz and fill that spot, but won’t start for Herons tonight.

Miami currently have several players injured, such as midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi who is still recovering from hernia surgery and forward Facundo Farias who tore his ACL during preseason and has been out since the start of this season. Both players remain sidelined.

Monterrey boasts a more extensive squad than Inter Miami, boasting both veteran talent and younger talent. Since 2014, they have made several marquee signings, such as U.S. international Brandon Vazquez from the U.S. national team as well as Mexican forward Gerardo Arteaga from Mexico and Argentine striker German Berterame from Argentina.

Monterrey quickly established their dominance early with an immediate burst from their left flank that produced an early cross that clipped Drake Callender’s glove before being cleared to safety by diving Ruiz.

3rd minute: Drake Callender makes another excellent save to deny Sergio Busquets his header, with the rebound striking off of the crossbar but eventually rolling to Maxi Meza who scores it!

9th minute: Meza has another chance to score, but miscontrols a pass and is fouled by Diego Gomez; who then receives a yellow card as punishment for his foul.

Inter Miami have suffered an awful blow without their star player, as their Herons nearly run out of substitutions and face an uphill task next week at enemy territory to turn this matcharound.

David Ruiz

Inter Miami have struggled recently due to injuries. Benjamin Cremaschi remains recovering from hernia surgery while Facundo Farias remains sidelined due to a torn ACL, forcing Inter coach Gerardo Martino to make tough choices about how best to utilize winger Brandon Vazquez with Jorge Rodriguez, Tomas Aviles and Sergio Busquets in midfield.

Martino must utilize all his resources in order to disrupt Monterrey’s compact shielding match and create chances. If necessary, he may also employ more defensive formations that may limit Monterrey’s attacks. The game will take place before a packed Estadio BBVA stadium crowd; its victor is likely to earn a place in the semifinals of Concacaf Champions League.

First half action begins with some early chances for both teams. Luis Suarez made his way behind Monterrey defense but his shot was offside. Marcos Rojo then gave away a cheap free kick through unsportsmanlike behavior when he attempted to grab Victor Guzman by the arm, with referee correctly flagging him for an offense.

Inter Miami are currently playing with only 10 men following David Ruiz’s dismissal for elbowing Maximiliano Meza in the 66th minute, having earlier missed a shot that would have put them ahead 2-1. Fans are eager to see whether Inter can find a way back into this matchup at Estadio BBVA; both teams know this game must win for victory to keep alive any chance at survival in this crucial competition.
